Oak Leaf Field Services, Inc. is PA certified for the testing and mitigation of radon. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer. You can't see or smell radon. Testing is the only way to know your level of exposure.
You and your family are at risk of developing lung cancer if you do not get rid of the radon. Over time, naturally occurring Uranium in the soil decomposes and emits a by-product commonly known as radon gas.
Oak Leaf Field Services, Inc. tests radon levels with a charcoal canister. Radon is adsorbed onto the activated charcoal and then measured at a lab. Results are typically available from the lab on the day of testing. The best time of year to perform radon testing is during the winter months when most homes are closed up.
A correctly installed radon mitigation system such as those offered by Oak Leaf Field Services, Inc. reduces radon to safe levels. The primary method used to reduce radon is a vent pipe system and fan, which pulls radon from beneath the house and vents it to the outside. Simply sealing the home does not lower radon levels as effectively as the vent pipe system.
Dangerous radon levels have been found in homes throughout the United States. Please call Oak Leaf Field Services, Inc. to learn more about the importance of testing and treating for radon.
